SDP’s Adebayo Congratulates Tinubu, Tasks him on Poverty, Insecurity

 

Former presidential candidate under the platform of Social Democratic Party (SDP), Adewole Adebayo, has extended his congratulations to the winner of 2023 presidential election, Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Tinubu had polled a total of 8,794,726 votes to defeat his rivals– Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) who polled 6,984,520 votes, Labour Party’s Peter Obi with 6,101,533 votes to come third and candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) Rabiu Kwankwaso who scored 1,496,687 votes.

In a congratulatory message posted on his Twitter handle on Wednesday, Adebayo charged the president-elect to prioritize the common good of ordinary Nigerians.

The former presidential candidate said the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) must not continue with its hypocrisy and deceit, saying Nigeria deserves better.

He also commended the courage of other contestants and implored them to seek redress through legal process.

Adebayo wrote: “I congratulate @officialABAT on his declaration by @inecnigeria as President-Elect of Nigeria. I wish him God’s guidance and wisdom to work for ordinary Nigerians. Poverty and Insecurity must be tackled within Chapter 2 of the Constitution.Nigeria deserves better. Be honest, firm.

“Victory for the politician is sweet on election night but what is in it for the people? Victory for the people is when good governance delivers accountability, justice and fairness in socioeconomic well-being of the common people. @OfficialAPCNg can’t repeat hypocrisy and deceit.

“I also congratulate @atiku, @PeterObi and other candidates for their massive victories and contributions to democratic process. I respect the right of every candidate and party to lawful protest and legal redress. Whatever is learnt from such a challenge will improve justice.”

Adewole Adebayo, the presidential candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), says Peter of the Labour Party (LP) and Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) should concede to Bola Tinubu.

His statement comes amid calls by the LP and PDP for Mahmood Yakubu, the chairperson of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), to cancel the presidential election.

Also, Olusegun Obasanjo, former president of Nigeria, had said the INEC chairperson should declare “void and inadmissible” election results where “BVAS and servers have been manipulated or rendered inactive.”

Adebayo, in a Twitter post on Tuesday, said Abubakar and Obi should show they love Nigeria by conceding to Tinubu.

“Chinua Achebe was right that leadership is the problem of Nigeria. Where are the true leaders? Same drama every election year is not progress,” Adebayo wrote.

“@GEJonathan saved us in 2015. It is now time for @atiku and @PeterObi to show that they love Nigeria. Time to call @officialABAT is now.

“I have more grievances than all the presidential candidates combined. I’m least satisfied with the results. I am dissatisfied with the choice of the electorate.

“It is the prerogatives of the people to make unwise choices but the choice is clear. We can be more honest all around.”

The presidential candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) Prince Adewole Adebayo, has taken a swipe at former President of Nigeria Chief Olusegun Obasanjo over his recent letter addressed to president Buhari calling on him interfere in the ongoing electoral process, Naijagistapp reports.

Prince Adewole Adebayo who took to his twitter account said the call by the former president is dangerous, unlawful and dangerous and parties who aren’t happy with the process should seek a redress at the court.

Obasanjo, yesterday in an open letter to Nigerians noted that there are so many discrepancies that needed to be corrected in some of the results declared by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), as the outcome of the presidential election and asked for a rerun election next week.

The former president expressed disappointment over the optimal functionality of the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) introduced by the electoral body, to ensure that the elections were transparent and credible.

He also plead with Nigerians to avoid being used for personal ambition of politicians.

SDP Wins Two Senate Seats, Two Reps Seats in Nasarawa State, Floors APC National Chairman

 

The candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), Ahmed Wadada, has defeated the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Abdullahi Adamu to clinch the senatorial seat in the Nasarawa western zone in the National Assembly elections held on Saturday.

Adamu could not deliver the APC candidate, Shehu Tukur to replace him at the red chambers.

The INEC returning agent for Nasarawa West Senatorial District, Prof Nasiruddeen Baba while declaring the winner at the zonal collation centre in Keffi said the SDP candidate polled 96,488 votes while APC got 47,717 votes, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) 46,820 and the Labour Party (LP) 33,228.

The APC also lost the Keffi/Kokona/Karu seat to the Social Democratic Party with Gaza Gwefwi retaining the seat.

The SDP polled 60,265 votes, the APC 28,417 votes, LP 29655 and the PDP 33,180 for the house of representatives elections.

Similarly, the Candidate of the SDP for Nasarawa North Senatorial district, Godiya Akwashiki won the seat and Abubakar Dahiru retained his seat for Lafia/Obi federal constituency.

The SDP, as declared by the electoral body has two senators out of the three and two members of the House of Representatives.

The four winners under the SDP are members of the APC who defected due to irregularities in the party’s primary elections last year.

Honour the Peace Accord, Adebayo Implores Other Presidential Candidates,Urges Nigerians To Wait For INEC Final Result

 

The Social Democratic Party (SDP) Presidential Candidate, Prince Adewole Adebayo has urged Nigerians to ignore people releasing unofficial result of February 25 poll.

Prince Adewole Adebayo in a terser message on Twitter on Sunday implored other Presidential Candidates to honour the peace accord.

He noted that nothing change the Presidential result at the moment.

The messages read:

“As Presidential Candidates and political parties, we all agreed to honour the Peace Accord signed with all solemnity. We knew that only one person would win. We all agreed to wait for @inecnigeria to declare the result. I urge all to abide now. Agents provocateurs must desist.

“Those announcing their own results or calling on people to come and resist

@inecnigeria as it collates and declares results or hiring spin doctors to go on the media to arouse controversies should remember that nothing can now change the winner. Wait for @inecnigeria to announce. ”

SDP Presidential Candidate, Prince Adewole Adebayo, Wife Cast Votes, Call for Honesty in Nigeria’s Electoral System

The Social Democratic Party’s (SDP) presidential candidate, Adewole Adebayo has expressed his happiness at being able to cast his vote in the February 25 presidential elections. 

Speaking at his polling unit 019, Ward 10 at Longtennis Barracks Road, Ondo State, Prince Adebayo mentioned that the technology put in place by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) was commendable and if Nigerians work towards it, the nation’s institutions can work.

“So I enjoyed my right of participation today as a citizen and I'm proud that it worked very well it means that our institutions can work if we set our mind on it”. 

“Well the process is objectively smooth. INEC has performed; in terms of equipment, it worked. It took just a few seconds to identify me and they also went to the manual, my name and my wife's name was also on the paper. I also noticed that no one had a missing name”.

Speaking on the use of the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS), Prince Adebayo said it is good for improving the electoral system, but the most important thing is the need to increase the level of honesty among the institutions political parties and citizens.

“Anything would improve the electoral system, even giving the electoral officer a better pen will improve the electoral system. But the most important thing that will improve it is increasing the level of honesty. 

“You know this beaver itself was brought out of suspicion of one another and the key is for every person in Nigeria to understand that honesty is the best policy, so even without BVAS we can conduct free fair and credible elections if the officials are honest, if the participants like me are honest, if the political parties are honest, if the citizens themselves are honest”.

The SDP presidential candidate said he wants to win but not with acts of dishonesty, lying and deception. 

“I want to win but I want to win honestly and any act of dishonesty cheating lying and deception I'm not involved in it and if everybody makes that commitment, I think the country will be great”.

Prince Adebayo was accompanied by his wife, Queen Lilian Adebayo who also casted her vote.

" VOTE SDP ALL THE WAY, DIRECT ALL MEMBERS TO VOTE ADEWOLE ADEBAYO", SDP'S NWC URGES MEMBERS

 

The National working committee of the Social Democratic party has issued a statement regarding the rumor that her presidential candidate, Prince Adewole Adebayo has stepped down or in alliance with other political parties in the build up to the February 25th, 2023 election, Naijagistapp reports.

In a memo circulated to all party members, sighted by Naijagistapp, the National Working Committee made it known that a vote for SDP is a vote to combat poverty and insecurity with all sincerity and vigour based on principles of social justice.

“The National Chairman of the Social Democratic Party, Alhaji Shehu Musa Gabam has directed all members of the Party to vote for Prince Adewole Adebayo, the Presidential Candidate of the Party in the presidential election coming up on the Saturday, 25 February 2023 and to vote SDP in all the elections”.

This is following the reaffirmation of the SDP National Working Committee (NWC) that the Party, (SDP) is not in any alliance with any political party and the NWC has, therefore, formally directed all its members and supporters throughout the country, and all Nigerians in general, to reach out for their PVCs and vote for Prince Adewole Adebayo, the Party’s presidential candidate and for all SDP senatorial candidates, all SDP Candidates for the House of Representatives at the elections of Saturday, 25 February 2023 as well as vote for SDP Governorship candidates and all State Assembly candidates nationwide on 11 March 2023.

The National Chairman reiterated the position of the National Working Committee that a vote for SDP is a vote to combat poverty and insecurity with all sincerity and vigour based on principles of social justice. 

The SDP NWC stands firmly that Nigeria needs a new path and Nigerians yearn for an alternative platform with fresh ideas to heal the ills of the status quo. We believe the SDP is that natural alternative platform.

 The NWC urges Nigerians to realise the country cannot afford to lead the people who seek liberation back to their oppressors by way of any alliance.

He stressed that the Party is not only youths friendly but youths centred and its manifesto is rooted in youth empowerment and women emancipation with a view to usher in peace, progress and prosperity in our country.

Prince Adebayo joined other Presidential Candidates at International Conference Centre, Abuja to commit himself to peaceful conduct before, during and after February 25, 2023 election.

Recall that the SDP Presidential Candidate during his nationwide campaign promised to eliminate poverty, restore peace and create millions of job for unemployment youth.

SDP Presidential Candidate, Adebayo, Counsels Nigerians on Which Way to Vote

Barely forty-eight hours to the presidential election, Social Democratic Party (SDP) standard bearer, Adewole Adebayo, has implored Nigerians to vote responsibly.

Experts at various levels had raised significant concerns about the importance of the forthcoming polls to the survival of the country.

Nigerians had therefore been advised not to sell their votes nor reward failure given the challenges confronting the country for years.

Adebayo, who made a live appearance on Channels Television’s “The 2023s Verdict” on Thursday, insisted the country was too immersed in multilayered crises and advised Nigerians not to vote based on religion or other primordial sentiments.

“Every Nigerian should remember that government is powerful everyday. Nigerians are powerful only on election day. So it’s important for them not to vote based on religious affiliations or other primordial sentiments. When you vote, you’re voting a government under which you’ll be in the next four or eight years. To avoid complaining all the time, take decisive step by voting responsibly. Go over interviews of all presidential candidates to understand them better and take a step towards making Nigeria a better country”, he said.

Adebayo also decried attacks on opposition during campaign rallies, citing cases of violence in Oyo and others.

The SDP flag bearer advocated robust system in Nigeria, in lieu of signing Peace Accord, where cases of violence during elections will be effectively addressed.

“Signing Peace Accord before international officers, to me, isn’t good enough. In fact, I feel that is ineffective if cases of violence continue unaddressed. To me, I will prefer a dignified system in Nigeria where such cases are effectively handled. We should learn a process where public officials will learn to be responsible”, Adebayo concluded.
