BILATERAL RELATIONS: Prince Adewole Adebayo Pays Visit to Chinese Ambassador

The presidential candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), Prince Adewole Adebayo, has listed several ways in which Nigeria and China can collaborate to improve bilateral relations.

This occurred on Thursday, September 30th, at the Chinese embassy in Abuja, during a diplomatic engagement with the Chinese ambassador, HE, Mr Cui Jian Chun.

Prince Adebayo stated that the social democratic party believes that Nigeria's international relations should focus on countries such as China, which has become self-sufficient after years of underdevelopment, and that these are countries from which Nigeria can learn.

“China has been an example of how a developing country or what use to be an undeveloped country can within a short time rally its people together, become self-dependent, become a great power and our believe in the Social Democratic Party is that the international relations of Nigeria must focus on countries with similar experience, countries we can learn from”.

Still speaking, he says Nigeria and China can collaborate to create more fairness and equity in the international system, as well as balance in international trade relations, infrastructure development, medicine, science, and technology.

“China is world champion on infrastructure development, road, railway and port development and I think we have a lot to learn in terms of that.”

According to Prince Adebayo, trade relations,

“we believe that trade should be more balanced and countries of the southern hemisphere and other developing countries should be able to explore other payment systems”.

The Chinese ambassador, Mr Cui Jian Chun, welcomed the SDP presidential candidate and his entourage and stated that the SDP is a well-respected party in Nigeria.

“You are welcome once again. Your party is a well-respected party in Nigeria. In China, whether small or big, every party is equal.”

Sen. Ugochukwu Uba, former Minister of Youth and Sports Development, Alhaji Kani, national vice chairman of the Social Democratic Party, Pst Ade Alabi of the presidential campaign office, and Hon. Richard Oriri, SDP candidate for Benue state house of assembly, accompanied Prince Adebayo.
