2027: Elections Must Shift From Slogans To Numbers, Facts, And Dated Interventions — Peter Agada

ABUJA — Young Progressives Party (YPP) Presidential candidate, Arc. Dr. Peter Agada, has called for a fundamental paradigm shift in Nigerian politics, declaring that future elections must no longer be fought on rhetoric, ethnic sentiments, or vague political promises, but on verifiable data, precise timelines, and actionable implementation plans.

Speaking during an interactive session with political correspondents in Abuja over the weekend, Dr. Agada argued that the country’s recurring governance failures stem from electing leaders who spend their first two years in office setting up committees and diagnosing problems rather than executing ready-made blueprints.

"For decades, political campaigns in Nigeria have been treated like poetry contests," Dr. Agada told journalists. "Candidates stand on podiums and promise 'one million jobs' or 'revamped healthcare,' but nobody asks them the fundamental engineering questions: How exactly will it be done? When will the first delivery happen? What are the exact Numbers, Facts, and Figures behind the intervention? If you cannot answer these five questions before election day, you have no business seeking executive power."

When pressed by newsmen on how his campaign intends to enforce such accountability in a landscape accustomed to conventional politicking, the architect and policy strategist unveiled LabourDirect (labour-direct.com) as the definitive answer to Nigeria's execution deficit.

He described the cross-sector digital platform as "Government with GPS"—a pre-loaded governance engine that integrates policy planning, budgeting, and spatial mapping across all 774 Local Government Areas and 8,809 wards in Nigeria.

"LabourDirect is designed to eliminate the 'silo planning' that renders public spending ineffective," Agada explained. "Today, the Ministry of Health builds a Primary Healthcare Centre in a rural ward, but because they don't coordinate with the Ministry of Works or Power, you end up with a facility that has no access road, no water supply, and no electricity. LabourDirect auto-flags those dependencies instantly. It tells you that to build a functional hospital in LGA X, you must simultaneously budget for 3 kilometers of feeder road and a solar microgrid."

When reminded that previous administrations also presented elaborate policy documents that ultimately gathered dust on government shelves, Agada countered that LabourDirect differs fundamentally because it puts real-time tracking and ownership directly in the hands of citizens and organized labor.

"This is not a white paper locked in a cabinet; it is a live, citizen-owned system monitored by the NLC, TUC, ordinary Nigerians and all other professional bodies in a National Council of Procurement based EPC Reforms." Agada emphasized. "When a project is slated for your local community, every citizen can view the budget, track construction milestones on their phone, and upload photos. If a contractor abandons a site, the system automatically alerts anti-graft agencies. No more lost projects. No more wasted years."

He concluded by challenging fellow contenders across party lines to subject their manifestos to the same rigorous scrutiny: "Let us stop selling hope without a tape measure. Show Nigerians the map, show them the figures, show them the timeline, and let the facts speak."
