Atiku: Wike is only saying no to hegemony – Ex-aide,Oraye St. Franklyn

As divisions within the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, threaten the party's fortunes ahead of the 2023 general election, Oraye St Franklyn, a former aide to Rivers Governor Nyesom Wike, has stated that his former boss is defending the interests of Southern Nigeria.

Governor Wike and other PDP chieftains from the South and Middle Belt resigned from the PDP's presidential campaign council on Wednesday, citing the party's national chairman's refusal to resign and ensure equity in the party's leadership.

Speaking on the issue confronting the party in Port Harcourt on Wednesday, St. Franklyn stated that Atiku Abubakar's candidacy cannot continue to undermine the South.

He claims that: “Irrespective of his shortcomings, history will be kind to Gov. Wike and all those defending the interest of Southern Nigeria. We say a big no to hegemony of whatever kind. Nigeria is made of North and South and power must rotate between the two”.

According to the lawyer and media consultant, the former vice president has also tarnished the party's image in the South.

“Atiku cannot undermine the South with his candidacy and also go ahead to smear the interest of the South in the leadership of the Party. Thankfully all these things are working together for Peter Obi and Nigeria’s good”,..he said.
